				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>What have Panda’s got to do with Google?</h3>
<p>When any search in Google produces millions of results Google has to have a method for deciding which order those pages are displayed.  A method for calculating something is called an algorithm. So Google’s algorithm is the method that Google uses to determine the order that web pages are shown in the results of a search.</p>
<p>Google is constantly improving their algorithm, and testing new ideas and finding ways to provide to find the best webpage for your search queries.  Major updates are announced in advance, and the Internet community gives these updates names, to make it easier to talk about.  The idea of names was based on the idea of naming hurricanes.</p>
<h3>What is the new update?</h3>
<p>The Panda Update or Farmer Update (for some reason this update has two names) was introduced by Google on 14th April 2011.  It has been called one of the largest algorithm changes Google has made in nearly a decade.</p>
<p>When Google make changes to their algorithm, they don’t provide a list of the new search criteria, they give subtle recommendations for improving websites. SEO experts examine the web sites that have been affected by the change and use that to work out what elements Google is now favouring.</p>
<p>Always remember that Google makes these changes so that they are able to provide a better experience for the people who use their search engine.  They want to give better search results to every search.  When writing for your website, and when determining site structure, always try to make a quality site from your reader’s point of view.  Here at Springwood Internet Marketing we put the emphasis on creating web pages that Google can see are written with the reader in mind.</p>
<p>Common mistakes that can be indicators to Google that a website is low quality include poor navigation, outdated material, duplicate content, and broken links.</p>
<h3>Website Improvements That would improve your ranking after the Panda Update</h3>
<p>Ensure every page provides quality content for your readers. Google has said individual pages can reduce the site’s overall score.  Remove any dated material, poorly written articles, or any pages you tried some trick techniques on (such as keyword stuffing). Create 301 redirects to new pages.</p>
<p>Fresh unique content.  The sites that have risen in rank since the Panda Update are those that are continually being updated including News, social media sites, video sharing sites and blogs.   One of the best things that you can do for your website is to add a section for weekly news and articles, another is to add video.</p>
<p>Have back links from a wide variety of sources. You need to include deep backlinks, that is links to pages other than your front page, and from within the text of a relevant. If the majority of your back links come from a single source, any loss in page rank to that site will affect the value of those links. If all your links are to your home page then it looks like you traded for those links. Always vary your stagey for obtaining back links, obtaining them from different types of sources.</p>
<p>Remove duplicate content pages.  Duplicate content is when you have pages with the same content, it frequently occurs because of different URLs pointing to a page including printer friendly versions and text only versions of an article, topic, tag and date archives. Use the canonicalization methods to make sure that Google index the version that you prefer.</p>
<p>Set up a Facebook Page or other social media account for your business. Google have increased the weight of links from social media.  If people are talking about your business this is taken as an indication that you have content that your readers value.  Ensure that you have links from your profile back to your website, and deep links back from your updates.</p>
<p>More importance has been given to the number of word on your page.  Ensure that your pages are at least 300 words, 420 is probably better. When you write you pages focus on a particular keyword or topic. Shorter pages don’t contain enough information to satisfy the reader so Google gives them lower quality pages. But don’t try and cover more than one topic on a page.</p>
<p>Keep outbound links on your website to fewer than 100, and ensure all your links are valid.</p>
<h3>Conclusion</h3>
<p>The Panda update represents an opportunity to rank more easily for those who take action now on content creation and link building. I am confident that when you check theses points and make any necessary changes, you will benefit from the latest Google changes and see an increase to your website rankings.</p>
